Get your Charcoal Gesso studies from last class (drying rack) and glue it down on to page 60. Write your reflection on page 61: process, materials, technique, strengths/weakness and areas for improvement.
Task#2: Supplies
Each table needs the charcoal bin and everybody will need a piece of media study paper from the middle table.
Task#3: Sketch
Using the charcoal create a sketch of your object. Zoom in on one area of the object the same way we did last class. select an areas that shows folds and thread. Sketch this area on to the media study paper. Add value and use the eraser to create mid-tones. Don't make the value too dark.
Task#4: Demonstration
I will give a demonstration for how to use charcoal gesso and watercolor to define form and folds through transitions and blending.
Process:
- Charcoal >Gesso >Watercolor
- Charcoal >Watercolor >Gesso
- Gesso mixed with Watercolor
You will add watercolor and gesso to your studies practicing the techniques given in the demonstration. Remember you can work in the negative space while you are waiting for you materials to dry before working back into them.
Task#6: Reflect/Clean up
Reflect on this process. Don't wait until after break you will forget what you learned today. Make sure all materials are clean and put back where they belong. Clean off your table and sink before leaving.
