Work on Projects. Your MP3 exam will be Monday (3/30/14), Make sure to bring your computer. If you haven't pulled your groups images from the schoolspace folder you need to do that today. It will be a reflection over your group utopian school design. Gallery Critiques will be due next Friday. You will need to drop the gallery critique in the School Space>Lessons>Gallery Critique>MP3 Gallery Critique drop box at 9am (4/3/15). Your final project will be due when you come to class on Wednesday, April 15th. Wednesday in class you will write your final reflection over your oil pastel view of your utopian school, make sure to bring your computer.
Digital Copies of your sketchbook are no longer due on Monday. Because of snow we are not done with our Utopian unit. We will finish this unit the Wednesday after Spring Break when you turn in your final oil pastel view and write your final reflection. Digital Copies of your sketchbook will be due that next Monday, April 20th. Your projects will be 11x14 (you may work portrait or landscape style). You will need to attach a cover sheet to your project remember you will be score on the following criteria: Composition, Space, Creativity, Material Usage/Craftsmanship). You need to start working on your project today. Do not draw with pencil, you may either use a charcoal pencil or a pastel pencil to block in your structures. I have moved the final due date to the Wednesday after Spring Break. You will turn in your projects and write your final reflection on Wednesday, April 15th. Your MP3 exam will be next Monday, March 30th. This will be a reflection about your group work and final Utopian School Design. Your gallery critique is still due on Friday, April 3rd. It will need to be dropped into the school space drop box>Lessons>Gallery Critique>MP3 Gallery Critique. I will start the sketchbook check today in class. Do not forget to leave your sketchbook in the cabinet at the end of class.
You must have both your oil pastel study (from one angle) and your detailed drawing (different angle/final angle) finished by the end of class today. Your homework is to reflect on these studies. See yesterday's blog post for reflection details. You may get out your blocks if you need a reference for your drawing. Don't forget to get your group's images out of the school space folder.
Sketchbook check on Monday!!! You will need to be working on one of two angles of your groups school structure: one with oil pastel and one with pencil which should included structural details such as doors, windows, walkways, balconies... Both of these need to be finished by the end of class on Friday and reflected on as homework. Reflect on how your study will relate to your final project, process, strengths and weaknesses. Discuss what type paper you will use and why. Make sure you have gone to School Space>Utopian Folder and download your group's structure photos, you will need these for you 9 weeks test.
What you need to do this week:
-Finalize blueprints and diagrams of your groups school (make sure everybody is on the same page). -3 oil pastel rectangular prism media studies with process reflection (started Friday/make sure they are complete) -1 angle (not final) of your school in oil pastel -different angle (can be final) drawn in pencil with details (windows/doors/walkways...) Homework: Finish blueprint and reflect on oil pastel experiments (evaluation, process, technique, areas for improvement). Do you like or dis-like pastels, explain?
Reminder for everybody going on the New York Trip we will have our final Parent's meeting next Wednesday, March 18th at 6pm in room 121 (Ms. Hardy's room). Let me or Ms. Hardy know if you have in dietary restrictions or allergies so that we can send home a form. Get out your group's gridded paper and 30-50 cargo containers. Begin to build your groups final design (this should not take more than 10-15 minutes). I suggest building in the middle of the gridded paper to make drawing process and scale easier. Open to your next double page spread and begin sketching your utopian school on the right page. You will use the left side to diagram and label different features of your school. If you school more horizontally oriented you may draw across the to pages and then use the top of the pages to label details. I will discuss with you ways of making spaces bigger by doubling the cargo container unit. I will also come around and take pictures of your group's design. Have fun, don't get loud.
Sketchbook Check on Friday: Personal School design reflection-this was the day I took photos of all the different school designs your group designed using the cargo container blocks. Which designs did you like, which elements would you want in your final school, you can draw arrows to the photos to explain your reflection. Final Group Utopian School reflection- Describe your groups final design. Reflect on your groups final school design (strengths and weaknesses, group dynamics, how did you develop the final concept...) Your structure will graded on using the following Criteria (reflect on these criteria): Composition, Structure, Function, Creativity Composition (does it look interesting from every possible angle), Structure (could it be built and stand), Function (is the space functional, would it work as a school, is there enough classroom space and can easily flow from one space to another), Creativity (is it interesting and unique). Utopian School Sketch/diagram-Double pages spread. Sketch your school. Diagram and label the different parts of the school, out side spaces, patios, sections (9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade), (Science, Math, English...)Cafes.... Make sure to document the number of blocks used and the number of classrooms. Your group can expand on size by dividing the shipping container forms in to multiple rooms. |
