Warm UP:
5th Block-Create a new slide (call it daily reflection)
Daily reflection 10/3
Review your Utopia MindMap.
What are some key points you noted for your ideal learning environment?
How can some of these concepts be addressed through the design of your school structure?
Look over your video notes (History of Architecture)
How can you, as a designer, create a structure that corresponds to a need?
How will people interact with the space you create?
What sort of statement do you want to make (think about the difference between the two libraries created in 2004 and how vastly different from each other they were in function and design)?
5th Block-10/4 Reflection add to daily reflection slide
How are you implementing concepts from the history of architecture video into your design?
What aspects of your school structure did you complete last class?
How do you feel about what you have rendered so far?
What was the most difficult aspect of creating this structure?
What do you need to do next to complete this structure by the end of class?
5th Block-10/5 Reflection add to daily reflection slide
What do you have left to complete today?
Will you have windows, doors, cargo structure and value done?
Why or why not?
How do you feel about your design so far?
Due Tuesday 10/9 (in your sketchbook when you come to class)
Using your sketchbook create a design for your Utopian school concept. Your design must be create out of cargo container structures. They can be large or small units but must keep the correct proportions. Review your cargo city design and perspective steps linked to the unit powerpoint.
- you may use the rectangular prism blocks to visualize design ideas
- draw this on the right hand side of your sketchbook
- you may work on a separate paper if you would like
- remember having your vanishing points going off your paper will make it easier to draw your structure
Task#2: Closure
How did you implement concepts from the history of architecture video?
How did you apply your personal elements of a utopian learning environment to your design?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of your design?
How can you present this idea by create a final piece?
What compositional, space, and creative elements do you need to implement in order to make a success final piece?
