Composition / Space / Creativity/ Value
The structure you design will be part of our school. Think about where on campus you would want your structure to go. Your structure must at accommodate around 200 students basically the size of 2 of our buildings. See campus maps below. Remember that one cargo container does not equal one classroom. Most classrooms are about 2-3 cargo containers wide by two high. Our art classroom would probably be even larger.
Draw 3 thumbnail sketch ideas for your project (in your sketchbook). Create 3 rectangles on your sketchbook page (left side). Draw a small sketch of how you want to layout your final project. You may use the blocks to build a structure then, sketch or you can work from your imagination. These sketches do not have to be in perspective, but you do need to indicate where your horizon line and vanishing points will be.
- Explore both portrait and landscape layouts.
- Remember all your rules for composition. 1/3rd / 2/3rd, overlapping, enlargement, have subject go off the page on 3 sides...
- your final project will need define ground (sidewalks/roads), windows, doors and background.
