Newspapers articles (from cubby) and collage Boards
- finish both collages
- take pictures of both collages
- gesso both collages
- cut out stencil
- take picture of final stencil on black paper
Task#2: Spray Paint
You will need your good newspaper article and one to use as a test piece.
- start on your test piece
- use the paper and block to help crop and hold stencil down
- spray paint: shake well before using
- start off your stencil
- smooth even layers, don't get too close
- play around with opacity and transparency
- put on clothes line to dry
- Repeat process for final newspaper article
- then repeat process for both collage panels
- if you have a negative space image you can print that as well
- hang all stencils on clothes line to dry
Task#3: Clean up
- all images and stencils must stay out side until they no longer smell like spray paint
- we will stop spray painting at 2pm to give stencils time to dry
- take pictures of your images
- put dry stencil in your sketchbook to protect it
Task#4: Closure
Collage Slides: add your final images to your collage slides
- one slide for each collage
- 3 images: collage, collage w/ gesso, collage w/ stencil
- add image of your stencil before spray paint
- add final newspaper image
- reflect on stencil making process
- elaborate on bridges
- discuss spray paint process (composition, cropping...)
