Warm UP: Get out your computer
Go to your "art folder"
Task#1: Project boards
Glue the two piece of cardboard together and write your name and block on the back.
Task#2: Images
You will need to find high resolution images to use for this projects. Look at the print examples. The images needs to be simple yet universal or easily recognizable. You will only have 4 values on your final print (white, highlight, midtone, shadow). Look for images with good value and contrast. Save 8 possible project images to your printmaking folder.
Task#3: Print block
Use the x-acto knife to scratch the back of your print block (see demo). When selecting a front and back of your block you will want to make sure the front is the clean even side.
Task#4: Photoshop (take notes for a grade)
Task#5: Drop image in google drive folder
Open link below. Make sure you are signed in w/ your school email. Make sure your images is saved as YOURNAME_bw_FINAL before dropping it in the folder

Task#6: Homework Due Monday 2/4
Go to your "art folder"
- move all landscape content to the landscape folder
- right click>new>folder>Printmaking

- right click>open w/ >photoshop elements
- View (top bar) fit on screen any time image is too large
- crop tool (left side)>no restriction (top bar)
- Width 4" x Height 4" x Resolution 400 (pix/inch)
- scroll over 4x4 area you want to crop
- you can adjust size by pulling the tabs or move the crop section as needed
- once you have your composition selected check mark to confirm your selection
- go to enhance (top bar)>adjust color>adjust Hue Saturation
- take middle "saturation bar" to -100
- making the image black and white > hit OK
- go to enhance (to bar)>adjust lighting>brightness/contrast
- Adjust to create shadows and highlights that define your subject
- select OK
- Filter>artistic>cutout
- bottom left (100% tab)>fit in view
- "number of levels" must be 4
- "edge simplicity" must be between 3-6
- "edge fidelity" must be 1
- if the image works select OK
- if image doesn't work select cancel
- go back go step 11 or try a different image
- after you have your final filter applied
- go to>file SAVE AS>save image go your art-printmaking folder
- save image as YOURNAME_bw_FINAL.jpg
- make sure this is a JPEG image
- select save>Quality 12>OK
Task#5: Drop image in google drive folder
Open link below. Make sure you are signed in w/ your school email. Make sure your images is saved as YOURNAME_bw_FINAL before dropping it in the folder

- go to new (left side)
- file upload
- select your image from your art-printmaking folder
Task#6: Homework Due Monday 2/4
- Take a picture of something you could make a print of...
- person, place or thing
- download the image to your computer and follow the steps from task#4
- save image to your Art-Print folder as YourName_HomeworkPrint
