Read the Mandala Handout.
Task#2: Answer the following questions in your sketchbook (use daily reflection page).
1. What does Mandala mean?
2. What are two ways to define Mandala?
3. Name 3 religions that use Mandalas?
4. Describe the symbolic “Palace” and how it is represented in a Mandala.
5. Describe the Vajrayana Buddhist School’s use of Mandalas.
Task#3: Return reading and select a Manadala Design Template
Task#4: Color in Mandala
Using your colored pencils fill in the Mandala. Use shading in every section, going from light to dark or dark to light. Create a pattern and stick to it as you move around the Mandala. Turn in Mandala when you are finished.
Task#5: Get "For Those Who Wish to Draw a Mandala" Handout and a Blank Template
Create your own Mandala design. Remember to create a pattern and repeat that pattern all the way around your Mandala. Using straight lines connecting the points at different intervals is the easiest, but you can use curving or organize lines/shapes as long as it is consistent. I will have a few circle forms you can trace on a first come first serve bases you can use to keep the form uniform.
